Or try it on the web →This plasterboard installation quote template is for Aussie plasterers pricing new builds, renovations, or patch jobs. Most quotes go wrong in two places: underestimating the labour for setting and sanding three full coats, or completely forgetting rubbish disposal costs for the old walls. Using a proper template makes sure you price every line item, from the Gyprock sheets and cornice cement down to the tip fees. It helps you protect your margin and deliver a professional quote that wins the work without costing you money. Get the numbers right from the start.
How to Calculate Your Square Metre Rate for Plastering
Your price depends on the finish level, but a good starting point for a standard Level 4 finish is $45 to $65 per square metre (m2), supply and install. This covers materials like 10mm Gyprock Plus sheets from CSR, screws, paper tape, and compounds. It also includes your labour for hanging, setting three coats, and sanding. For a small reno, you might charge by the day instead, say $600-$800 plus materials. Always measure walls and ceilings separately and add a 10-15% waste factor on your sheet count. For premium materials like soundproof or fire-rated board, price them as separate line items as they can double your material cost per sheet.
What Plasterers Forget to Add to Their Quotes
The biggest mistake is forgetting site prep and cleanup. If you're ripping out old lath and plaster, you need to quote for a skip bin and the labour to fill it. Another common miss is access equipment. If you're working on a raked ceiling or in a stairwell, the cost of hiring a scissor lift or mobile scaffold must be on the quote. Also, specify the level of finish you're providing. Most domestic work is Level 4, but if the job has lots of critical light, the client might expect a Level 5 finish, which takes more time and material. Always specify this to avoid arguments, as defined in AS/NZS 2589:2017.

Frequently Asked Questions
For a standard square room, a 10% waste factor is usually safe. If the room has lots of angles, windows, or doors, increase that to 15%. It’s better to have one sheet left over than to make a second trip to Bunnings or your supplier for a single offcut. Always calculate your waste factor at 15% for complex jobs.
The installation labour is the same, but the material cost is higher. A sheet of Gyprock Aquachek from CSR for wet areas can be 30-50% more expensive than a standard Gyprock Plus sheet of the same size. Always price the specific board per sheet and list it as a separate material cost on your quote to show the client the price difference.
Price cornice per linear metre (LM), including supply, adhesive, and installation labour. For a standard 90mm cove cornice, a fair rate is between $10 and $15 per LM. More decorative or oversized profiles will cost more in both materials and labour, so get a current supply price from a supplier like CSR before finalising your quote.
